Once it is dark outside, you will be able to leave the office. By scheduling patients in this way, patients’ side effects are typically only 1-3 days of mild facial pinkness and very light flaking. If this procedure is performed during daytime hours and the patient leaves the clinic, he or she will get an “overdose” of light therapy. This will result in about a week of signifcant downtime: potentially a tremendous amount of redness, burning, and peeling.
